This active family entrusted our team to design a modern, yet casual lower level living space with an industrial twist. The space was designed to feel aesthetically warm and inviting, while able to accommodate the family’s activities in an open floor plan. With ample space for watching movies and sports, playing shuffleboard, exercising in the workout room, and practicing golf swings in the golf simulator, this basement can accommodate an assortment of hobbies. The layout was thoughtfully planned so the family could do separate activities, yet still be together. The colorful palette of mustard yellow, teal and neutrals, paired with white trim brings the space to life along with the live edge open-shelving and brick veneer backsplash at the dry bar. This project challenged us to create a basement that didn’t feel like a typical basement. We creatively disguised plumbing and ductwork in the ceiling design and relocated the interior walls and furnace to accommodate the club swinging depth for the golf simulator.
